I’m Lauren, the maker behind Cottage Ceramics!

I first started working with clay over four years ago when I discovered handbuilding, and what began as a hobby quickly grew into something much bigger. Once I found my way to the pottery wheel, I never looked back. My love for turning a simple ball of clay into durable, functional art has quite literally changed every facet of my life, and it’s something I bring into every piece I make.

I’ve always loved creating ceramics with personality, rather than perfectly uniform pieces. I’m drawn to things that feel handmade, playful, and a little whimsical- the kinds of objects that stand out and bring a bit of charm to your home.

Most of what I make are unique, one-of-a-kind pieces, or items made in small batches. Everything is created by me in my small Melbourne studio, from lugging 40+ kilos of clay from my car, to designing, shaping, decorating, glazing, and firing each piece (twice!).
